Operation and hospitalization

Operation and hospitalization

For all procedures:

The medical team and the staff of the clinic will do everything possible to provide individualized, attentive and competent cares in order to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
During your hospitalization, a nurse and a care assistant will take charge of your care and will be attentive to your needs.
All means will be used to treat you with consideration, to respect your tranquillity and privacy and to ensure your security, in return, you will be asked to respect the sanitary, security and courtesy rules during your stay.
Any general anaesthesia or neuroleptic analgaesia necessitates a pre-operative fasting (no food, no beverage for 6 hours prior to surgery) the non respect of this instruction will lead to operation cancellation.
When you will prepare your luggage, DO NOT FORGET YOUR MEDICAL FILE as well as any specific garment prescribed (lipopanty, anti-thrombosis stocking …)
Please remove all jewellery before coming to the clinic (or ask for them to be placed in the clinic’s safe along with your liquidities during the operation). Make sure you bring some loose and comfortable and easy to put clothes for your stay and your departure.
Plan to shower or bathe, to have clean hair before setting off for the clinic. For women, please remove all nail varnish and make-up.
If you wear contact lenses, brace or denture, or hearing material make sure to remove them before undergoing anaesthesia.
Just before the operation time, Dr Le Louarn will draw on your skin with a dermal marker (medical pen) the operative mark in order to be able to proceed to the planned procedure. This step always takes place before the anaesthesiologist attends to you. As far as cosmetic surgery is concerned and not some vital procedure, should a major disagreement arise about the impending procedure (position of a scar, expected effect…), the operation would be necessarily postponed to a later date in order to ensure both you and the surgeon, every chance to make the best decision.

If you are hospitalized:

If you wish for a close one to stay with you at the clinic, book a room with an accompanying person bed. The clinic may also organize a private nurse if you want.
You will be requested likewise for your visitors, to respect the needed silence for patient recovery. So you should arrange for an “ipod” or “diskman” if you want to listen music, and to see to your television volume.
It is strictly forbidden to smoke or to introduce alcoolic beverage in the clinic as well as, to use mobile in order to avoid medical devices perturbations. It is also preferable to limit the number of visitors both for sanitary reasons and to ensure your recovery.
If you should want to extend your stay for greater convenience beyond your leaving authorization, you will need the clinic administration agreement.

For External Operations

Make sure you are accompanied by someone responsible. Anaesthesia is often followed by euphoria, so do not take any important decision within at least 24 hours of the anaesthetic. As your reflexes will be dulled, so do not plan any activity requiring concentration such as operating machinery. If you are returning home by car YOU CAN UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DRIVE.
Before leaving home, make sure everything is ready for your return:
– Arrange a light supper.
– Prepare the following on your bedside table: Arnica 5H , painkiller tablets (Dafalgan, Doliprane), a bottle of mineral water.
You must arrange someone to be present with you. Because under no circumstance, you can rise during the night without being accompanied, even if only to go to the toilet and even if you feel perfectly well (anaesthesia can often produce side effects similar to those of overindulgence in alcohol).
You will have to get up the following day and move around a little, even if you feel tired, to aid your circulation.
